The
AK-102 was designed for close quarters combat, and is
commonly used by special forces and police. The rifles
shorter barrel aids in clearing buildings and navigating
tight spaces. The rifle is produced by Russia's
leading small arms manufacturer Izhmash Small Arms.
They produce four other variations of the rifle in different
calibers, barrel lengths, and weights. The AK-102 comes
with cleaning kit, oil bottle, and bayonet.

The AK-102 is chambered in 5.56 NATO and features black
synthetic furniture, with a side folding stock. The side
folding stock looks just like a normal fixed stock, however it
folds and locks securely to the side of the receiver.
These stocks are very high quality and are also very rare in
the U.S. The AK-102 has a 12 inch barrel with a Krinkov
style muzzle break to allow the action to cycle. Due to
the shorter barrel length of the rifle, the gasses escape
faster and don't allow a new round to be chambered. The
Krinkov muzzle brake is used to trap the gasses and allow the
action to cycle. The AK-102 can be fired in three
different firing modes; semi, three shot burst and full auto.
The AK-102 has an optical plate installed on the side of the
receiver for attaching scopes and other optical equipment.
The optical plate will accept most types of Russian and
European AK optics. The AK-102 weighs 3,000g and has a
rate of fire of 600rpm. The rifle will accept most
synthetic and metal magazines, generally 30 rounds in
capacity.
How to construct a
clone?
The AK-102 is currently unavailable to the general public in
the U.S., however class III dealers may own them.
If you desire a rifle that looks similar to the AK-102 we
would suggest that you purchase a used pre-ban AK in the
$700.00-$1000.00 price range (a .223 variant would be best).
Then purchase the side folding stock from Tantal,
it will be expensive. You will then need to
purchase synthetic Bulgarian hand guards, a AK-102 front sight
base and a Krinkov muzzle brake from Global
Trades. Make sure you tell them the caliber
of your rifle, if they send you the wrong brake you could
seriously damage yourself and or the rifle. If you wish to have a 12 inch barrel, you must first apply to
the BATF for short barreled rifle tax stamp $200.00.
When you receive your stamp have Mike turn your barrel down
and install the correct front sight. If you do not want
to apply for the tax stamp, then the barrel must be at least
16 inches long to be legal.

This
is a great gun if you can get your hands on one.
The official AK-102 is made in Russia. If
you can find an imported one in the U.S. they are
worth a lot of money.
