Tools:
1. Vice
2. Crescent wrench ( I use 3/4)
3. Gas tube
4. Replacement guard
Note: To make sure you do not damage the gas tube please use some
type of padding on the vise jaws.
| To
remove the hand guard from the gas tube lock the gas tube
perpendicular inside the vise. The grip must be tight
enough to hold the wood in place firmly, but not crushing
the wood at the same time Make sure that you have the
end that fits into the rear sight block up so that you can
use the wrench. You will notice that at the top of the
gas tube there is a thicker grove of metal that resembles a
bolt head. That is where you place the wrench. |
 |
| Make
sure that you have the wrench in place at the top of the gas
tube. |
 |
| Turn
the wrench clockwise, you should notice the gas tube turning
however the wood should be staying in place. Turn the
wrench 180 degrees until the wood hand guard is upside down. |

|
| Once you have done
that you should be able to pull down and remove the hand guard. |
