The WUM models are post-ban sporterized versions of the AK-74 & AK-47 assault rifles.   They come complete with cleaning kit, side rail scope mount, 5 round magazine, thumbhole stock, and manual. The first version is the WUM-1 which is the 7.62x39 version or better known as the AK-47.  The WUM-2 is the rare 5.45 version or AK-74 copy.  While magazines are in abundance for the WUM-1 the WUM-2 only offers 30 round mags and drums were never imported in to the country.  The WUM-1 will accept all standard  AK-47 mags.  Some WUM's were even imported with threaded barrels and a nut welded over the threads.  Other newer imports have an AK-74 muzzle brake on them.  There has been some controversy over the quality of these guns.  Our experience with the quality of these guns seems to be variable.  It seems that most of the earlier imports were of better quality.   This could  partially be because there are two or three factories putting the rifles together: Cugir, Romtechnika, and possibly Sule. We have herd stories of offset barrels, used guns being sold as new, corroded barrels, weird messages being stamped on the receiver and even circular cut-outs in the receiver.  If you do plan to purchase one of these rifles make sure you look it over real well and get a good return policy.   Overall, any of these rifles are fairly well made, we are not saying that they are all bad just be cautious of what you are buying.  If you have any information about circular cut-out please send it to webmaster@ak-47.net

Overall Rating: 3 AKs
