There is at least one source that gives you not only new and
recently manufactured-in-the-U.S. M855 (green tip), but also
provides it linked and in the issue plastic 200 round M249 box
magazines. These are available either as M855 only, or in a 4
to 1 mixture of M855 and M856 (orange tip) tracer rounds.
Discount Distributors is the source.
The ammunition is
manufactured at Lake City, and includes late '90's date and
NATO cross and circle on the head stamp. So what do you do
with linked ammo? It is trivial to unlink the rounds and
package them any way you'd like. A 200 round belt can be
unlinked in about 10-15 minutes, and the brass receives no
marks at all from the process. The belts are good for photos,
displays, and for those who own a belt-fed 5.56mm...

Anyone with an AR-15
needs to get an order in for a case of this ammo. For about
the same price as reloads or other brands, you not only get
new Lake City manufactured M855, but you get 20% of that as
tracers (if you want) and the rounds are linked and in their
original issue plastic cases. The tracers definitely make it
worth the price as these alone generally sell for up to $1 per
round, the links and the cases are an added bonus.
Some ammunition is
available on G.I. stripper clips in 30 round boxes, and
tracers are available separately as well.

I'd recommend getting some soon as it may not last.
